Disney Princess Birthday Party!

It's that time of the year again when I go all out for my baby girl! 

So once again I try to be basic for her birthday party, but we all know how extra I am...

But of course Canada's crazy spring weather had to make an appearance and have a ice storm. 
Unfortunately not everyone was able to show up because of the weather but we still had a great time and she loved it.

3rd Birthday Party!


This year for her birthday invitations I ended up purchasing them from Party City.
Nothing fancy this year.

We decided to do her birthday party at a location in Vaughn called Tiny Town.
It's literally how its sounds a tiny town for the kids.

For the sweet treats you know I had to call my girl Grace to do her magic!
Not only did she do the dessert table but also the backdrop.
Loved the concept of all the beautiful princess colours with a touch of gold.

No doubt she has talent! 

We decided to design the treats as Disney princesses.
We used Snow White, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.

This year I definitely felt like her birthday came so unexpected. I've been working so much lately that I didn't realize her birthday was just around the corner.

How To Plan with a Peanut and Tree-nut Allergy

2018 has been a journey and the journey just keeps getting more interesting!

With that being said my daughter Veronica might be allergic to peanuts, not sure how to feel about this. She's the type of toddler that eats EVERYTHING so knowing she might be limited to types of foods because of the peanut is making me feel a little jumpy.

So the first thing I did was run to my brother and sister in law and ask them how they manage having to be peanut and tree nut free due to my Goddaughter.

I figured I can not be the only mother that is new to the peanut allergy community that is completely lost and need tips in how to manage and plan ahead to prevent any peanut allergy reaction.

So here are Tips How to plan with a peanut and tree nut allergy:

  • Read Ingredients: This can be quite annoying, I get it! but if this is the first time trying a product I would suggest being even more cautious. I bumped into a list of hidden peanut names that you may find in the labels, Peanut allergy avoidance list.

  • Snack!: When traveling or planning a road trip with someone that has a peanut and tree nut allergy it's a must you bring snacks, especially if that someone is a child. Due to all the schools being peanut and tree nut free it's so much more easier to find snacks in grocery stores to have in hand at all times. Don't worry there is also "grown up" snacks for us adults that have this allergy. Let's face it not all restaurants are peanut and tree nut free or even accommodate. 

  • Call before hand: You may feel limited to places you want to go eat at, but the best thing to do is call before hand. It's always best to make sure first if the restaurant or bakery are peanut and tree nut free or can accommodate. You definitely not want to waste gas in going there and end up starving. 

  • Talk to the Chef: Sometimes I can see this to be a little bit embarrassing but when your life or your Childs life is a risk nothing is ever a bit too much, just to make sure it is safe. But I've learned it's always good to stress to the chef about your allergy so that the message goes straight to them and not passed on. You never want to be in a position when broken telephone happenes especially when it comes to your or your child severe allergy. 

  • VivoPlan.com: Imagine a directory website that only provides with peanut and tree nut free restaurants and bakeries. Well that is what VivoPlan.com is exactly wha the peanut and tree nut community needed. You are able to share and post restaurant and bakeries that you know that can either accommodate or is peanut and tree nut free. Also when posting they themselves call the restaurant or bakery to make sure the information your provided is correct. So no more calling before going or even speaking to the chef. 

  • Epi-Pen & Benadryl: I know some of you would be like well DUH Melissa! but let's be real being knew to this community, I'm not used to walking around with an Epi-Pen and Benadryl. So I suggest for those new people facing an allergy or moms just always double check your bags and always make sure have have both in hand.

10 Tips for surviving Disney World with a Toddler

Traveling with a Toddler anywhere can get hectic especially visiting an amusement park like Disney World. 

As long as you are prepared best believe your trip to Disney World will go smooth.
Also do not stress! Disney World is huge and if you think your going to be able to see everything in 7 days, think again. 

Make sure to make a schedule for every day and if you get off track or off schedule, just go with the flow! At the end of the day Disney World is the "Happily place on earth". 

These are my top 10 tips for surviving Disney World with a Toddler:

1. Bring your stroller or Rent

Strollers are a life saver! Not only did my daughter benefit from the stroller who is a 2 year old but also my son. Walking around Disney World can get any body restless especially children. We personally ended up renting a double stroller for my son and daughter so they could both have room to rest if needed.

Below are the prices to rent a stroller at Disney World:
  • Single Stroller: $15 US or $13 US per day for the length of your stay.
  • Double Stoller: $31 US or $27 US per day for the length of your stay.
2. Reliable Backpack

A reliable backpack with lots of compartments is a must. I personally take the Honest City backpack everywhere, it is comfortable, reliable, and stylish. 
3. Bring Snack!!

Obviously you will want to treat your children to a Disney snack but let's be real if you don't have a meal plan, they can be a little expensive. You can find Disney snacks all over the grocery stores and if you are flying to Orlando you can bring the snacks in your luggage or carry on, so you can bring them to the park.

4. Wipes

Potty trained or not you will need wipes. Toddlers in general get messy and you best believe they will at Disney. There are so many yummy messy treats at Disney!

5. Buy Glow Sticks at the Dollar Store

Disney is definitely magical at night and when they start selling those glow wands, you will for sure see your child go crazy for one. I definitely recommend going to the Dollar Store first and find any glow sticks or any Disney stuff they may have, so you can bring to Disney World.

6.  Bring own Water Bottle

DUHH! but not just any refillable water bottle. I would suggest to bring those refillable water bottles that you can also spray with. The heat in Orlando is crazy so keeping your toddler hydrated and fresh is always key.

7. Medicine?

Yes, medicine! Because Orlando is super hot everywhere you go they blast up the Air Conditioner and it can get super cold. Going in and out of the A/C can cause the little ones to catch a cold or fever because of the change of temperature. Having either Tylenol or Advil on hand can save the day just in case your toddler may need it!

8. Invest in a Mickey Balloon

Okay you may ask why would I do that? Well if you tie it on the stroller it will help you identify your stroller just in case a cast member moves it while your on a ride. Also they are a great investment, they lasted the whole 7 days I was there. I had to give the balloons to a family that was checking in because they were still in good condition. 

9. Nap if possible

This can be a little tricky because obviously you want to see everything in the park but we all know what a restless toddler can be. If you can take a break and head back to your room so you can rest with your toddler. 
For me this was not the case having a 9 year old there was no way he wanted to head back. I was lucky enough my daughter was able to take her naps on her stroller with her blanket.

10. Plan your meet and greet

Waiting in line can get really boring for your toddler and they may not have the patients to wait. I would suggest to get a Fast Pass specifically for the meet and greets. You can also Reserve a character    dinner that way they can meet the characters while they eat.

Top 5 Healthy Snacks for Weight Loss

Now that it's the new year we all have basically made a commitment to start shredding some weight. 

Hopefully this list of healthy snacks helps you continue to help you meet your weight loss goal.

1. Grapefruit

Not only is grapefruit awesome for burning fat but also it's great for your heart and blood pressure.

2. Almonds

Almonds provide a great amount of protein, fibre, riboflavin, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, copper and manganese. The great thing about almonds it feels you up without making you feel heavy. 
3. Carrots and Hummus

Personally I only like the the classic hummus from "Sabra". This snack will definitely take away your cravings for chips do to the crunchy texture plus it taste amazing!

4. Apple slices and Almond butter

This snack might be my favourite for sure! I have a serious sweet tooth and let me tell you this snack helps so much to fulfill that sweet craving. Apples are filled with lots of finer and the protein in the almond butter gives you a filling feeling without making you feel heavy.

5. Coconut yogurt with mixed berries and raw honey

I personally try to stay away from dairy for weight loss especially when it comes to yogurt. When I found the Silk brand diary free yogurt I was so happy. I love having coconut yogurt with berries and a drizzle of honey, it's so healthy for you and it's awesome!

How to create a Vision Board

If you like getting crafty and creating, than you will love creating your vision board. 
Very easy and fun!


  • Cork board/Cavas/Poster Board
  • Glue/Pins
  • Scissors
  • Magazines/Book you can cut up
  • Computer and Printer incase you need to print out images or word
  • Plain/Colourful Paper
  • Markers/Paint Spray(optional)
  • Wood letters/Numbers (optional)

Before creating our vision board you need to create a list of goals. When creating the list of goals make sure you are as specific as possible. 

Also find a peaceful place to create. Put calming music on and candle to set the mood.


When creating your board you can get as creative as you want. I personally created a title for my board, "Law of Attraction". I had wooden letters and sprayed painted them in gold.

Also start cutting out your images/word or print them out for your board. Personally I also put motivational quotes and prayers.


Gather all your pictures for your board. Before pasting or pinning the images/word on the board, just place them on how you will like it.

Make sure to leave space between the images/word so that in case new goals come up during the year you will have space to paste/pin them up, also so that the board does not look crowded.


Start pasting/pinning the images/word on the board. Also decorate the board the way you like it, example: with glitter, sparkles, etc.


Hang your board somewhere you will see it when you wake up or hang it up somewhere you see it before you leave your place.

So now that your vision board is done, next step is to make some moves! Your goals will not be accomplished if you do not make moves to tackle them.


How to Slay 2018

As we await for the new year, we all get in this "new year, new me" type of mood.

Let's make 2018 a better version of yourself with these tips:

  • Take time for yourself
Even if it's 1-2 hours at least 2 times a week to do what you enjoy is good for the soul. As a mother myself, we always put ourselves last on our to do list and than at the end of the week we find ourselves about to pull out our own hair because we are just overwhelmed and stressed. Giving yourself that time to do what you enjoy will make the week go more smoother. Also ladies just because your a mother does not mean you get to loose yourself!!! Don't ever forget you are beautiful!

  • Appreciating everything around you
We can never predict what 2018 has in stores for us, let's be real were good at one point and than we go down. It's normal, its life but instead curling up in a ball and getting all depressed let's take a moment and realize how blessed we are. Take a look around you and appreciate the ones that stood by year in 2017 and going in 2018, the ceiling over your head, the bed you sleep in, the food you eat, etc I think you get the point. No matter what situation you may find yourself in 2018 always remember your not alone, were all going through a situation we just need to find a way to keep our self together to go through it with our head up high and remember you are truly blessed.

  • Let God take the wheel
Now this year I have become more religious and let me tell you how fast my life has changed for the better. There will be times in life in general not just in this new year that you will feel like there's no way out. Let me tell you just by praying and telling God your leaving the situation in his hands, your shoulders will feel so much more lighter. Don't stress and don't get overwhelmed as God has taken control of over your situation and will get you through it. You will grow as a person and you will become wiser after the storm has ended.

  • Put health as priority

OKAY! I know every year we say this to ourselves, were finally going to hit up the gym and eat clean. But don't worry it's never too late to start; take little baby steps if you have to. Start working out 1-2 times a week and making better choices for food when you can. At the end of the day the only person that will take care of yourself is YOURSELF! I personally do boot camp with my trainer and I come out feeling like a new woman every time!

  • Set goals for the year
Make your goals as specific as possible. Don't let others opinions stop you from having big goals! You are capable to accomplish them. Now in order to accomplish each goal you truly need to believe in yourself even when others may think otherwise and if you don't accomplish it than the way you tried to complete the goal was not the right way and just try again, DO NOT GIVE UP. 

  • Visualize your goals
I know this is easier said than done but nothing is easy in life let's be real! What I personally did to keep visualizing my goals is to create a vision board. You can get as creative as you want when doing these, which I personally love. 

  • Do what makes you "internally" happy
Listen you only live once! Make decisions that you happy. You were not place on this earth to please others or to explain your happiness to others. Not only is happiness a pleasing emotion but it makes you healthier and more confident.

How to Make Disney Christmas Cookies

What a better way to enjoy Christmas with some yummy Christmas Mickey Cookies!
PLUS its bake free!


  1. Christmas Sprinkles
  2. Oreo Cookies
  3. Mini Oreo Cookies
  4. Brown candy Melts

Step 1:

Separate the the filling (icing) of the mini Oreo cookies and put only the cookies in a bowl. Then have the baking sheet and baking paper ready to put the cookies on top. Put the chocolate melts in the microwave for 30-50 seconds (all depends on how fast your microwave heats up) and stir until it's fully melted.

Step 2:

Make Mickey ears with the mini Oreo cookies. Use the candy melts like glue to stick the mini cookie inside of the larger Oreo cookie.

Step 3:

Dip half of the larger cookie into the melted candy and gently shake the cookie to make it look more smoothly.

Step 4:

Sprinkle the Christmas sprinkles on the bottom half of the cookie where it was dipped with candy melt. Place the cookie on the baking sheet to cool down.

Take note that you can make these for any holidays, just change the colour of sprinkles!
